Honorable PM of India Shri Narendra Modi announced “Pradhan Mantri Suryoday Yojana” on 22^nd January’24 after the Grand inauguration of Pran Pratistahapana of Ram Lalla at Ayodha, Shree Ram Janma Bhoomi. “PM Suryoday Yojana” is launched to benefit 1 crore beneficiaries in India.

The Objective of PM Suryoday Yojana :

Most of the Lower and Middle class Citizens of India are struggling with the increasing Electricity bills from the Electricity Department. If this Rooftop Solar System is installed on their Roof/Terrace/sufficient open place in the plot, their electricity bill will be either zero or very negligible. Also, they can earn income if the excess electricity produced is exported to the electricity board itself.

This is better than offering free electricity only to the selected beneficiary which includes selling excess production and earning money.

In India around 8 months in a year, the clear sun energy is available. Due to modern techniques, even in cloudy conditions also solar panels generate power.

The scheme will mainly start in some rural areas where the people staying there will not be able to afford the high electricity bill. And when there is extreme heat, this is a very useful scheme.

Benefits of PM Suryoday Yojana :

• With PM Suryoday Yojana, 1 crore beneficiaries/families will stop getting high bills of electricity.
• Rooftop solar systems will be installed on the roofs of Lower-class & Middle-class families.
• Subsidy can also be provided for installation.
• This may be a milestone and help the Government of India to achieve its vision of the production of Green Energy & reduce carbon emissions for a better planet.

Eligibility :

• All the Citizens of India.
• The age of the beneficiary should be 18 years or more
• Low-income group people only can get the benefit.

Still, the official announcement is not made, but as per my experience following documents may be asked/required.

• Application form or online application,
• Aadhar card,
• Bank Account details / Bank Passbook,
• Passport size Photo
• Electricity Bill (Meter connection details)
• Installation report, etc.

Still, an official website is not provided for this. But it will be provided soon because this Yojana/scheme is likely to be implemented in 2024 itself.
